Goddess Wisdom — Meet Juno ⚡
This month, we turn to one of the most sovereign and compelling goddesses of the ancient world — Juno, Queen of the Roman Gods.
Juno — Roman Queen of the Gods, Protector of Women
Juno (Iūnō) is the great queen of Roman mythology — wife of Jupiter, daughter of Saturn, and the most powerful goddess in the Roman pantheon. She stood at the centre of the Capitoline Triad alongside Jupiter and Minerva, the three pillars of the Roman state. Her name lives on every June, the month still bearing her mark.
She was many things at once: Juno Regina — regal, commanding, sovereign. Juno Lucina — she who brings women and newborns into the light. Juno Moneta — the Warner, whose temple housed the very first Roman mint (giving us the words 'mint' and 'money'). Juno Sospita — the armed protector, fierce and fearless in a goatskin cloak, who saved Rome from the Gauls when her sacred geese sounded the alarm.
Unlike many goddesses defined solely by their relationships, Juno was a force in her own right. The Romans believed that every woman carried a personal juno — her own divine spirit of feminine life force. To honour Juno was to honour the power and vitality within every woman.
What Juno awakens in us
September, with its shift toward Mabon and the autumn equinox, is a time of balance, sovereignty, and taking stock of what we have built. Juno's energy fits perfectly here.
She asks: are you honouring your own queendom? Are you showing up fully — not shrinking, not waiting for permission? Juno never made herself small. She claimed her authority as her birthright.
