Slow Fashion, Ethical and Environmental Policy
Slow Fashion, Ethical and Environmental Policy
At Neena Kay Jewellery, we are deeply committed to sustainability and protecting our precious planet and have built a Slow Fashion, Ethical and Environmental Policy to reflect values that mean the world to us all.
This vision guides every decision we make, ensuring that our jewellery not only honours our soul calling, but also integrity and respect for the world around us.
Slow Fashion Movement
We embrace the Slow Fashion ethos, which holds particular importance for small jewellery businesses. Slow fashion honours the artistry, time, and care that go into creating each piece.
Unlike mass-produced accessories, our jewellery is crafted with intention — always by hand — to ensure quality, individuality, and longevity. Nothing is ‘off the shelf’ so you will find longer dispatch times than you may be used to, but you will receive a piece that has been made for you, and only you. The only exception to this is the One of a Kind - Ready to Ship Collection. These pieces are usually made using beautiful stones that I know I could never replicate.
Supporting slow fashion also means supporting sustainability: it reduces waste, preserves traditional skills, and empowers artisans to work ethically. For us, it’s about creating jewellery that carries soul, story, and lasting value, rather than mass producing, chasing fleeting trends and hoarding unused stock.
Materials
Our materials are chosen with the same mindfulness. The silver and gold used in our collections are fully recycled and sourced from trusted, sustainable suppliers whose ethical policies align with our own. Gemstones are carefully selected from reputable sources, ensuring that they are either recycled or fairly mined from responsible, sustainable origins.
Packaging
We extend this commitment to our packaging. All materials are made from recycled stock, are FSC certified, sourced from UK small businesses and can be recycled themselves. We also try to minimise our printed stock and are always looking for environmentally-friendly options.
Photography and images
All of our images are ‘real life’ and unedited, there is no smoothing out or AI interference. We believe it’s ethically important to capture the raw essence of both our hand-made jewellery and the people who kindly modelled for us.
Through every step - from sourcing materials to the final finishing touch - we aim to create jewellery that honours both people and planet.
